Headache Management
Headache is one of the most common causes of stress. There are two primary types of headaches, migraine and tension. Over 45 million Americans report suffering from headaches. This amounts to about one in six people reporting headaches, or about 16 percent of the population in the US. Within this percentage, there are about 20 million people who suffer from migraine headaches. The Journal of Pediatrics contains many articles that report an increase in the number of children complaining of frequent and significant headaches. In fact, medical statistics report that headaches are the most complaints of pain presented by children and adolescents.

While the primary cause of migraine headaches is usually not stress, it is well established that stress can make the sufferer more susceptible to the migraine triggers. Stress can increase the occurrence and make the pain and resulting disability much greater. Tension headaches are primarily a result of stress. Tension caused by stress will increase muscle tightness in the back, shoulder, neck, jaw, facial, and scalp musculature.

The usual approach to reducing the pain of migraine or tension headache is to take aspirin or a prescription medication. While these may be effective, the dangers of side effects often out-weigh the benefits.

We have successfully treated hundreds of headache sufferers and helped them to either eliminate medication or dramatically reduce the frequency and dose they find it necessary to use.

The stressmanagementstore.com offers several do-it-yourself techniques to help you to effectively manage stress and gain more control over the frequency and severity of headaches. Some migraine sufferers are prone to the headaches because of vascular response and some are related to muscular response. Whichever category you fall into, there are products in our store to help you better control your headaches.
