Military Duty Stress
The consequences of military duty stress have been documented from the time of World War I. Military service people are subjected to one negative experience after another, which accumulate to the highest levels of stress. Military duty stress can affect the individual for years. Whether it takes the form of intruding thoughts, nagging mental pictures, fears, or other types of feelings, military stress can become immobilizing and cause the person to become emotionally and physically ill.

As military service people return home, they face many stressful questions and decisions. They are often unable to return to their previous work and must decide what type of occupation to pursue. Family issues can compound the stress of the images and recollections they carry with them from their military service.

A report published in Science Daily in February 2007, calls attention to the increasing mental health needs of military personnel and their families. The article points out that many of our patriotic military men and women are going without help because of the limited availability of care. The severe consequences of military duty stress are often not acknowledged by professionals and sometimes not even by friends or family.

We have worked with veterans from the Korean conflict, Vietnam, and now young and middle aged veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. The cost of seeing a therapist is prohibitive for many and they go without any form of treatment. Meditation, relaxation, breathing exercises, and biofeedback practices have been proven to be effective ways to clear the mind of disturbing thoughts and images. The products offered in our store can provide a cost effective way for veterans to learn to manage the stress they accumulated from military service, and to learn to live a less stressful, healthy and productive life.
